Creasy wins sixth - captures second championship
MILAN, Mich. - Dale Creasy Jr. carried the banner for Torco Race Fuels into his sixth win of the season. In the process he captured his second consecutive IHRA, Knoll-Gas Torco Nitro Funny Car Championship. With two races remaining, Creasy's six win, one runner up and two semi-final appearances will qualify the Beecher, Illinois based team for one of the best seasons in recent IHRA history.
Creasy has avoided questions concerning his second championship the past several weeks. "When they announced at the track that I had wrapped up the championship I had tears in my eyes," Creasy said shortly after the announcement. "I just had to wait until they said it before I would believe it."
The opening round win that solidified the championship was 4.898 elapsed time at 313.51 mph. The mile per hour would reset a career best for Creasy and the elapsed time would be his fastest of the year.
"We want to stay focused and go out here and try to finish the season strong," Creasy said. "This has been a dream season and I can't thank Evan Knoll and Torco Racing Fuels enough for letting us go out there and represent them. No one loves drag racing more than Evan and it's certainly a lot of fun racing for him."
Creasy and his Creasy Family Motorsports team are headed for the Torco President's Cup Nationals at the Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek. Qualifying begins September 28, continues on the 29th with eliminations beginning on Sunday September 30.
